Q1) Does DOSBox support the IBM XDF Floppy Disk Format ?

Reason: It is required to install IBM PC DOS v7.x (With Stacker 4.x)

Disk 1 is a standard 3.5" FDD formatted to 1.44 million bytes, but it contains a TSR called XDF.COM (from memory) that enables the rest of the installation to continue, reading 3.5" diskettes, but formatted at around 1.83 million bytes.

I suspect it was to reduce piracy, or maybe just reduce distribution costs (It makes the install 1, maybe 2, disks smaller to package, but XDF read/write speed is much slower).

I posted this in the general forum because I feel it isn't specifically code / developer related, and an experienced 'non-Dev' might just happen to know the answer.

Why don't you try if it works?

My guess is no as DOSBox uses the Windows XP fdd driver which doesn't support XDF ('natch, a format made by the competition). WinImage suffers the same issue under XP. It may possibly work if loaded as a disk image though.
