I am running DOSBox under Windows 98SE, and have had no luck trying to use a couple of programs which interface with hardware connected to the parallel port LPT1. Windows sees the port normally, but programs running in DOSBox do not seem to communicate with the port correctly. Is there anything I can do to diagnose this problem? Can I somehow confirm that DOSBox is addressing the right port range (378,379,37A)?
The official DOSBox does not access the parallel port. Have a look at my homepage.

Um you can patch borland-compiled executables to not exhibit the timer underflow,
and if you're compiling stuff you can even replace the buggy crt.tpu
That's interesting wd. Can you point me towards some information about how to do this? I don't have the source code, just the executable file.

You must believe to me, I have hoped to use a day the dbox with lpt in a w98.🙄
I'll avoid a lot of o.s. changes from NT to not-NT, due the programs needed.😀

In the past I've solved some runtime errors with a "decelerator" like moslo,
used with one of the best dos terminal, ProcommPlus.
But I think this trick is like setting the cycles in dbox.
