Do other games work? What's the size of the executable?

The .EXE file is 342 kb for the actual game, installation is 16 kb, I haven't tried any other games, but I really want to play this one... ****edit****

I just tested Blackthorne and it did the same thing, sort of almost loaded the .exe but never finished and doesn't go into the game.

Try some keen shareware. If that doesn't work as well then something
is bugged in your setup.

Blackthorne won't load, Sabre Team won't load, but Commander Keen 6 loaded just fine... how do I get Sabre Team and Blackthorne to load though? I really wanna play those games, what happens is I try the .EXE and it will almost execute the game but then it just stops...

dosbox version? computer specs?

Sorry, Dosbox .071, my pc is using Windows XP Professional SP1, AMD Athalon 64 3700+, 2.4ghz processor, 768 ram

Be sure you're using a clean dosbox.conf (or rename the existing one,
dosbox will use defaults then) and type the mount commands.
Try using something like "mount c c:\oldstuff", some games are picky
about the location.

I tried my copy of Sabre Team and it runs fine in 0.71 with max cycles and auto core. No other settings were changed.

Ok, well mine isn't working is the thing, 🤣 so the question is how do I get mine to work? I am using default settings...

If you mean commands then this is what I've done:

as you can see I tried the .exe and it didn't work. it just went down and had the - that flashes and nothing happened

C:>SABRET~1\sabre.exe

Please post the exact line, the above doesn't make sense.

umm... ok well when I open the directory for the actual sabre team folder I typed the .exe which was sabre.exe and pressed enter.

so it's "c:\sabret~1\>sabre.exe" ?

***actually it's dosgam~1 before sabret~1 but i've tried it in just c: as well the sabre team folder that is and it still doesnt work

it isn't just doing this with sabre team it seems to not work with a lot of games...

Seems to work fine for me, maybe reinstall it (not just use setup.exe,
but fully install it within dosbox).

No luck, still does the same thing.

Try renaming the folders to 8 chars or less. Make the folder name "sabre" instead of "Sabre Team".

****ok scratch that, older version does the same thing, i tried .65 and it does the same thing .71 does.
