Yesterday I installed TIE Fighter through Dosbox on my laptop and it worked fine, however the joystick control was very loose and if I recalibrated the joystick through the game, it would get even worse. Usually if I ran it only through VDMSound on my desktop, I'd have no problem getting the joystick calibrated the way I like it. So is there something I may need to edit through Dosbox, or is there some other issue?

Also is it possible to make video recordings of games like TIE Fighter with Dosbox, or is there a third party program I should use?

Another piece of different readme files lying around.
That's the nature of opensource software. Here is an online version of the readme (see also signature of Minimax), which lists the CTRL-ALT-F5 command:
http://dosbox.cvs.sourceforge.net/dosbox/dosb … DME?view=markup

Klimawandel.

Which website?
Re-download it from dosbox.com in any case and uninstall the old version.
Be sure that the readme matches what was posted above, and that the
reported version number is 0.72.

So now what? I still have the same issue with the joystick.

Have you checked the timed parameter in your .conf file? For instance, if you actually have timed=false when having the joystick problem, then you may want to change it to true, and vice versa.

Never thought this thread would be that long, but now, for something different.....

Changing it had no effect. I did restart Dosbox after editing dosbox.conf, of course.

I don't think a patch for the game will be necessary, as I had no problems with the joystick when I ran TIE Fighter on VDMSound.
