I have installed DosBox onto my system and I have Doom running perfectly on it. However, I can't hear the music - I can hear the sounds perfectly but I can't hear the background music. I assume that this is because my nasty onboard soundcard has no MIDI capability at all . Is there anything like Microsoft's wavetable synth for linux?
Oh, and in case it helps, DosBox had this error message:
ALSA:Can't subscribe to MIDI port (65:0) nor (17:0)

I stumbled upon http://lau.linuxaudio.org/TiMidity-howto.html and got timidity working, but timidity attaches itself to 128:0, while DosBox is looking on 65:0 and 17:0. I tried "aconnect 65:0 128:0" but it throws up:
Connection failed (Invalid argument)
Is there any option in dosbox.conf to make it send MIDI commands to a different port than 17:0 and 65:0?
I looked on the wiki, readme and in the comments in dosbox.conf but it did not have anything useful.
Sorry, I have no idea how midi works on Linux 😜
