Removed being developers don't want old versions being used.

My bad.

Yes thank you VERY much for spreading old versions, wtf.
Use the newest version, if it doesn't work post a bug report.

This is the same mentality that M$ has with their forced obsolescence of all previous OS's. So we're supposed to just drop Win XP or Win 9x/ME and jump onto Vista.

I was under the impression this was different and wouldn't mind sharing older versions. Obviously I was mistaken.

I'm a oldversion.com sort of philospoher. And thought I'd point the person in the right direction, after it was made known that there was an issue with the game with the new version. Which by the looks is a well known fact for quite awhile.

crash (2007-11-04 20:06) kungpao
Crashes after intro sequence. 0.72

Nearly a year.

Sorry to have ruffled feathers.

And who exactly is this kungpao character? Some bozo with with a bad rip and illegal download maybe? Or an experienced DOSBox user with a nice CD to install from? Nobody knows. Yet you trust his word that 0.72 is no good with that game? Why do you do that?

Actually it's not. DOSBox gets more compatible with each release, not less.

With that said it's inevitable that some games will get broken over time. Problem is we can't fix them if people don't report them. People don't report them because they use the old version and as far as they are concerned the problem is "fixed".

Then when the old version is no longer available they bitch and moan because their game doesn't work in the latest version.

DOSBox is a community driven program. It REQUIRES users to report issues. If users don't care then DOSBox won't get better.

Good point DosFreak.

Actually MiniMax, I take that person at face value and I assume the OP also tried it with his version. Once again, I tend to believe innocent until proven guilty. A drastic mistake with the internet if napster and torrent historygives any indication. I still like to believe people are honest as a whole.

And lastly, I don't know how the "graph" works. I assumed the graph was built by the developers for user benefit. But it appears it's build upon user feedback alone.

it is user feedback. We can't play that many games ourselves.

It needs 64Mb of memory. Then the intro crash will go away.
That should get you started, TomCat39.

Except for the fact that DOSBox will only emulate 63 MB of memory.

My mistake. I set memsize=64 and the crash went away.
I'm sure that memsize=63 would work, too. :-)

Thanx Peterferrie but I wasn't the one trying to do this game.

I errornously posted a link to the list of previous versions of dosbox which the OP was looking for.

Thanks for the help though. 😀

Seems to work fine for me using a cvs build. No crashes with memsize=32. The only problem I've encountered is error when exiting, since the bat file runs 'echo" some text...' (no space between echo and ").
