It is strangely on topic (DOS, DOSBox, ABCGRL = probably some ABC (font) for GReek Language). I could imagine some strange results & characters with DOSBox and a Greek keyboard.

If he's a bot, he's a very very clever one, though i'm still thinking it's some
regular user having a hard time to explain himself 😉 But no idea, do what
you want with that 😀

The problem I have is there's no explanation in any of the posts. Just a list of things done.

It's like the person doesn't care if they are responded to or not.....they just post whatever it is they have done.

We are either dealing with a very young/old person and/or someone with a mental issue......or a bot.

I'll move it back.....it just irritates me.

You aren't a moderator.

When you type in ABCGRL, it will show up the following text:

Greek Fonts and Keyboard Driver for PS/2.
Copyright (c) 1990 Tasos Lambrakis.sv1bee.
Copyright (c) 1990 ABC Systems & Software.
Version large-1.0

Γραμματοσειρά IBM - 437

Αλλαγή γραμματοσειρών με: [Alt] + [1] = 437
[Alt] + [2] = 851
[Alt] + [3] = Elot 928

Αλλαγή πληκτοσειρών με [Alt] + [Enter]

You already launched FontEdit 1.0. It's made by Michael J. Mefford. It's submitted to PC Magazine.

Try the same type with abcgrl /u.

Program ABCGRL already loaded !. will be appeared.

Poster has also reported being unable to uninstall NovaFont: CPX Font editor

The Greek font TSR in question can be found at http://www.hyper.gr/greek-fonts.html

Just as with NovaFont, there is no evidence that the TSR can be unloaded with a command line switch. I think this poster is under the assumption that an uninstall option is usually available, but that's really not the case. It's actually kind of a pain to make a TSR that can uninstall itself, and restarting DOS (or DOSBox) is easy.

The Greek font TSR does seem to have some issue in DOSBox when changing the character sets with its hotkeys, but there's the complication of keyboard layouts and codepages, so hard to say if it's a problem. And when having to decode the poster's unusual English phrasing (You = I ?), it's also hard to be sure of the intended purpose of the thread.

Maybe you could challenge him to decipher one of those annoying CAPTCHAs that litter the internet. I specially hated the one about cats that was used by rapidshare!

Although, having failed a lot of them myself, I wouldn't be completely sure of the results 😊

Regards.

I am with DOSFreak. I think it's a spambot even if it is a very sophisticated one. Most of his/her/its post are meaningless.

If he/she isn't a bot then he/she has got plenty of time to learn the basics of English language. A lot of people here aren't native english speakers, including myself.

Since I am greek and I can understand the greek instruction from the TSR:

Alt+Enter changes greek/english input

Alt+1 , Alt+2 and Alt+3 just change between fonts.

you must remember, that Greek keyboards back then did not really follow any standard, IBM machines had different layouts on their keyboards than Olliveti ones for example... so this could explain why "wrong" special characters appear. All those tsr's of the time where custom made for specific brands/models.

is that what you need to know?
