why is it that Dosbox 0.72 wont open if you set your system clock to the year 2038 or higher? ...

it loads then errors and closes.... any year lower than 2038 and it works fine
Welcome to the upcoming 'Y2k38 bug' which puts 32-bit stuff at the limits. Hopefully we'll migrate to at least 256-bit CPUs with a chain of transparent VMs down to 32-bit by then.
This just in from the developers:
This bug is scheduled to be fixed no later than 2032 with DOSBox v. 8.53 providing amble time for users to migrate to the new version well in time of the year 2038 bug.
