First off, I am pretty new to DOSBox and Ultrasound, so with that in mind - I have been using the OSX Boxer frontend for all my DOSBox gaming so far and I love it.

I've only recently discovered how much difference Ultrasound actually makes through some samples. I noticed that Boxer conveniently already came with the Ultrasound drivers packaged. Since I have no clue about the whole Ultrasound thing, I looked around a bit and found this page, which you may be familiar with - http://www.dosgames.com/forum/about10574.html. Since people said that getting those "pro" patches made the experience even better, I went about replacing the Ultrasound folder supplied by Boxer with the one you can get from that thread.

Now it *looks* like this is working just fine, I can play Jazz Jackrabbit and it appears I have Ultrasound (since I am not accustomed to it, the most embarrassing thing in all of this is that I'm not sure whether I'm already hearing what I should be hearing). However other games give me trouble. Epic's Radix gives me a "Music initialization error" when selecting GUS in the Setup.

When I choose GUS in Tyrian 2000, I get "Ultramid driver not found". I looked through some threads here where people said Ultramid is a specific driver option that DOSBox currently does not support. Yet that appears to contradict certain blog posts I read where people were gushing about how good Tyrian sounds with GUS in DOSBox, so surely it's my problem..?

As you can see I am quite a bit confused whether these things are just specific issues related to specific games, or whether I actually did something wrong in my GUS setup. I'd appreciate any help either way.

Thanks a lot!

you have to run ultramid.exe before running the game
