When I open DOSbox, I see :

Z:\SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 H5 T6

Z:\

The problem is that it will not mount to any game directory when I tell it to in the config file at the bottom like so:

[autoexec]:
mount c c:\games\alientrilogy
c:

I save it with this, but whenever I load Dosbox, the changes do not appear.
Any manual changes I make in Dosbox with commands also do not stay.

What can I do to fix this? I'm new to this, so I don't know too much about the program.

I might be using the wrong terminolgy.

Refer to this if needed:

You type "config -writeconf dosbox.conf_" in Dosbox to make a new "dosbox CONF_file" which allows you to set a few things.

When I open it, I scroll to the very bottom to find "[autoexec]"
and then place this:
"mount c c:\games\alientrilogy
c:"
underneath it.
When you open DOSbox again, it should say that it's mounted to: c:\games\alientrilogy
but for me, it's not doing this like it's supposed to be. I need help fixing this. Uninstalling and reinstalling does nothing it seems.

don't use that guid but use the dosbox.conf that comes with Dosbox. OR rename that dosbox.conf_ file to dosbox.conf. You didn't follow what the guide has written down but what you saw in the picture (the cursor behind dosbox.conf looks like a _ in the picture...)

The game worked fine (it just didn't have sound and the CPU cycles were too fast) so I set the sound to sound blaster (which worked) but after that, I couldn't change anything. Now that I figured out how to get Gravis ultrasound detected by dosbox (which is what i originally wanted to do), Dosbox isn't working right, and I can't change the settings and keep them at all.

THANKS. Got it working.

I knew it was something simple...🤣 just a "_" made all the difference.
