Hello. I've noticed something rather crippling that has just started occurring today- the backslash key sends a "]" rather than "\" and their respective shifted (?) forms to DOSBox. In addition to this, the key that would send "]" just doesn't work in DOSBox. The peculiar part is that this only occurs in DOSBox. I can type backslashes normally in any program outside of it. I reasoned that I could bypass this issue by writing an Auto Hotkey script that prints the backslash for me. However, it still prints a "]".

I'd appreciate some help with this matter, as I'm dying to pick up X-Com again! 😀

Oh, yes, my specs:

Windows XP
DOSBox 0.74
on a Dell XPS laptop- I'm going to look up the specs, have them up in a moment.

This is a signature.

where have you got dosbox from?

post content of "DOSBox Status Window" (in Windows: right click on its title bar -> edit)
enclose your dosbox's config file

In addition to robertmo's response:
Does this happen when DOSBox first starts up or did you load a program first?
Does changing the usescancodes= line effect it?
