I'm trying to set up my joystick for use with X-Wing. My joystick has an analog twist axis as "axis 2", the 3rd actual axis counting from 0.

X-Wing, by default, has Axis 0 as pitch, Axis 1 as yaw, And Button 1 + Axis 1 as roll. I'd like to assign Button 1 + Axis 1 to my real Axis 2.

I haven't been able to figure out how to do this. I'm using the FCS joystick type, as I'd like to use my hat too. I've added every Axis 2 and Button1 to every virtual axis in the mapper and none seem to work. Am I going about this the wrong way?

you will have to read the manual first

anyway you would need at least 4 axes for both features too work and even than:

hat will have only 3 usefull directions

rotating will work only with fast speed and you won't be able to use both at the same time (they will be also interfering each other)

you can try some external mapping program for hat, for rotating nothing will help i think
