Motherboard: Intel DX58SO
Processor: Intel i7-920 (@2.67 ghz)
RAM: 6 gb Corsair XMS3 DDR3 Triple channel ram
Video Card: ATI Radeon 4890 w/ 1gb ram, PCIE
Sound Card: Integrated HD intel audio using realtek codec
OS: Windows 7 64 bit
Game name: All (Tried Master of Magic, Master of Orion, and Master of Orion 2, all of which auto detect sounds - no manual settings required/possible)
Video Mode: Default
Version of emulator: Dosbox .73 & .74 (Currently only using .74 to try to get it to work)
Sound mode used: Default, plus have tried fiddling with it without prevail
Description of problem: No sound. Everything plays fine. But no sound.
Reproducability of problem: Always.
Troubleshooting up to this point:
I have read the readme, downloaded and read the FAQ, I've combed over the forums, looked through the dosbox wiki, it doesn't seem any of those help in solving the issue... I've tried different settings for the following variables:
sbtype=sb16
sbbase=220
irq=7
dma=1
hdma=5
sbmixer=true
oplmode=auto
oplemu=default
oplrate=44100"
I have changed the type to sbpro and back, the base to each option (220, 240 etc). The IRQ the DMA) and nothing allows me to hear sound. I have tried lowering the CPU cycles on Master of orion and master of magic (when i load Master of orion 2 though, it changes the cycles to "max" and in a percentage.
The sound on my computer works fine with other applications and can play all sorts of sound files just fine. When I open dosbox it says:
MIDI: Opened device:win32
on the status window and in the windows sound mixer shows there's another source of audio from doxbox.
I've even tried moving everything over to my Acer Aspire One netbook with windows 7 32 bit to see if it was a 32 bit compatibility problem, and it wasn't.
My little brother has a windows 7 32 bit system as well, and does not have sound. He also has a netbook as well that has Windows XP 32 bit. He claims he's never gotten the sound to work either.
I think I'm missing something very basic here on getting the sound to work, because of the lack of posts in the forum and the lack of it being in the FAQ or readme...
Help would be much appreciated.
