I tried to use dosbox on a HTPC attached to a TV, unfortunately my TV stretches image to 16:9 even in 640*480, so fullscreen mode doesn't look very nice, and 640*480 window is just too small and cannot be resized. I wonder what can be done about that - is it possible to make a double-pixel 1280*960 window? It will be very nearly it. 0.74, linux

If your TV is anything like mine, it should have an option to change the stretch mode so that 4:3 signals are centered. If not, there may be an option in your graphics drivers. Or you could simply run it in windowed mode at a fixed resolution by changing the resolution in dosbox.conf

I don't use Linux or TV-out so I can't be certain, but these settings should work and they don't require a 4:3 mode support from the TV:

fullresolution=1280x720 # you can replace this with another 16:9 mode that your TV accepts
output=opengl
aspect=true
scaler=none
