As an experiment, I've been trying to bring Darklands up under Mac OS
X 10.3.6 using
DosBox 0.63. Using instructions posted here, I muddled through the
following steps:

(1) drop the contents of the CD into a directory somewhere: I put
them in /Applications/
Darklands/. Create a directory /darkfiles for step 3.

(2) Run DosBox, and mount the directory as follows: "mount c
/Applications/Darklands".
Then create a place for the app to drop its own files, for example
"mount d /darkfiles"

(3) Change to C: and run the Darklands exe. When prompted for a place
to put files, type
'd'.

So now I get the starting screen for Darklands. Woo-hoo! Except when
I click the "play
game" button, I get an alert that says "Printing (null). Align
printer and press". When I click
the OK button, it exits the Darklands screen and drops me back into
DosBox.

Anybody seen this? What does it mean?

Start fresh.
Make an image of the CD and img mount that as d. Mount a folder as c, cd to d and install.
Maybe see if a newer dosbox built works on 10.3, not sure how well 0.63 imgmount works. You may have to try and built a newer dosbox yourself.

Edit: and dosbox on an old ppc machine is probably going to be veeeeeeerrrrrrryyyyy slow. No dynamic core and Dosbox needs fast machines to e useful for "newer" games.
