Hi! I remember I saw something like a small program to load before starting the game
for games such as Three Sisters (maybe) and Marble Cooking in which the Japanese characters are represented all in the same way.
I have this program on a now dead 486 😵 and I can't even access the hard disk (I tried a USB HDD connector, the computer recognizes it but it can't read the partition, it has no jumpers).
I am pretty sure I saw a thread about this issue longtime ago but I can't find it.

Probably better to ask in the DOS section of the forum, as this certainly isn't specific to DOSBox.

The kind of games you refer to are intended to run in DOS/V, but in many cases you can get away with using regular DOS and a TSR program that draws the Japanese characters. A search for "dosj-v15.zip" should turn up the program. You'll also need to find font data, but a text file is included with the program that lists sources.
