Hi guys, I recently discovered DosBOX.

Having had a play on a trial version of some old LucasArts games inspired me to delve around in my old floppy disk collection, which turned up my old LucasArts Classic Collection (all 7 discs still there!) and my favourite fighter, Mortal Kombat.

All was going well, managed to mount my floppy drive okay. Managed to get the installers up for both, however both installers report an error along the lines of 'Sorry, cannot create directory'... you guys got any ideas what might be wrong or what to check?

As it happens for both games, I'm hoping it's my system at fault and not the disks, I've seen what sort of price the original Lucasarts Collection sell for on eBay and as for MK, well I haven't even seen one come up!

Thanks in advance for any help....

Well MK has installed, I now have a more rudimentary problem in that as the manual has long been lost I am now unable to progress past the 'Please enter Word 6 from Line 1 of Paragraph 2 on Page 10' page! 🙁

On the plus side, Lucasarts seems to be installing, no need for any passwords from what I remember...

You can probably get a PDF of the manual from http://www.replacementdocs.com .

Alternatively, it should be pretty easy to find a "crack" for the game that will disable the copy protection check and allow you bypass that prompt just by pressing "Enter", but of course such solutions are not supported here; you might have to poke around some of the shadier parts of the Internet to find something like that.

But the best solution would probably be to buy the Arcade Collection on Steam or GreenManGaming or one of the various other digital download services. I think it has been on sale for well under $5 in recent times. It includes MK 1, 2, and 3, all in their original arcade form (as opposed to the PC-ported versions), plus they should run effortlessly on modern systems.

While DOSBox is perfectly adequate for the Lucasarts games, you may want to check out ScummVM.
