First question, is it necessary to jailbreak a ios device to run dos applications on idos?

I am wondering about read-only file attubutes of a non-jail broken device.

Or would it be better to jailbreak the ios device and run dospad instead?

I have read that it is possible to install non-offical apps on ios without jailbreaking.

Has anybody have any success running dos apps on the ipad, iphone or itouch?

Unfortunately, none of the mobile versions of DosBox are supported on this forum, as the original DosBox developers have nothing to do with them.

To answer your question though, I'm assuming that in order to properly run non-official applications, you should jailbreak your iOS devices. I know that on Android, you really need to root your device in order to run a lot of system applications efficiently.

If you have paid for iDos then no, you don't need to jailbreak. The version for jailbreaks is more performant though. If you have a Mac you should be able to install the latest Dospad version by compiling it yourself with xcode. I've done this with other apps, not with dospad.
