Don't flame me, its quite possible I'm talking out of my ass here and I realise that...but...is this feasable?

There's a lot of people whining about the performance hit of emulating a 386 on a 386 compatible CPU. Is it possioble to have DOSBox detect the CPU type and if the machines CPU has a x86 instruction set just forward the CPU calls directly, but turn emulation on if needed?

😁 🙄 😖 🤐 😁

No. If you search you will find out that it was discussed several times here. It is not so easy to mix emulation and native execution (although there are some commercial products doing it - e.g Microsoft (Connectix) Virtual PC). DOSBOX speed solution is dynamic core.
