I'm interested to canvas opinion on whether other users might find it useful to call external processes through something like a 'call' or 'start' command within the shell? I would have thought there were quite a few windowified DOS applications (games or otherwise) that make calls to supporting windows applications.

If this is desirable, can anybody with knowledge of the source code give an idea for how difficult this might be to implement?

If Windows 7 is less 'less good' than Windows Vista, what does that make Windows XP?

games don't need it.
so it is not very likely to make it into dosbox.
It's not very hard to code though.

Many thanks for the quick reply and sharing DosBox with the world 😉. It sounds like this might best be handled as a patch then if I want to give it a try?

I'd still be interested for users to post here if they have a similar requirement.

if TSR's are involed somewhere...
it be VERY hard to do?

Installshield, for win95 games, is a half-n-half nightmare
