Try a fixed and LOW number of cycles(the lowest that will give playable speed), if that doesn't work, try obtaining a newer version(don't remember how you can tell the version number though...). And please report back, I'm also trying to find a solution to this problem but unfortunately since the problem is not always reproducible, and since I don't really want to play this game, I don't want to test it myself.
