This is not a problem you should be trying to fix with DOSBox.
Incompatible installer problems can likely be remedied with the instructions at http://www.reactos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=90351 . Otherwise, you should use a proper VM like Virtual PC or VMware.

There are numerous things that DOSBox simply does not emulate properly if you are not booting some version of DOS from a disk image, as detailed in the guide. There are a couple of games that will complain similarly.
There has been some unofficial work done on adding proper IDE emulation to DOSBox such that programs will recognize mounted directories as proper hard disks, but said work is still in its early stages, apparently because there is simply no clear documentation on exactly how an IDE controller needs to behave to satisfy Windows 95's disk access drivers. http://www.os2museum.com/wp/?p=935 is an interesting read if you want to know what some of the gritty details are like.

You're welcome. But I am curious as to what problem you are experiencing that is due to an incompatible installer and that also cannot be remedied by the instructions at http://www.reactos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=90351 . Is it some proprietary installer? Are you sure the game will run under XP even if you can get past the installer?
There are handy replacement installers available for most of Sierra's games if that's what you're looking at.
EDIT: If the installer complains about the Windows version number, you should get Resplendent Resolver from http://www.resplendence.com/downloads_obsolete.htm .
