Anyone know how to get Summer and Winter Challenge from Accolade to work in dosbox? When I run these games it says I should remove my debugger or something like that. The games database says summer challenge works with 0.58, but I get the same message with 0.58.

Any clues?

Also, if anyone knows how to get Ace of Aces by accolade to run also please let me know.

Thanks!

Try it with VERY low cycles. You can raise
the cycles on the event selection screen.

easier solution:

just enter setup and leave it

it is simmilar as it was in prehistorik 2 with earlier dosbox versions

Did prehistorik2 have the same thing with the cycles??
It crashed because a rom region was writeable iirc.

Didn't debug summer/winter games any further though.

Hello!
I didn't understand if it's a dosbox problem or a summer challenge problem, why if I enter setup and exit game starts?!
dosbox is great!!

Summer/winter challange can't handle fast CPUs
(the same problem occurs when running the games
natively under XP on a recent PC), i assume they
try to detect debugging by measuring some instruction
sequence during startup. Entering the setup
does (accidentally?) something that corrects
the generated value.

So it is no dosbox bug.

well but if you emulate less cpu cycles, summer/winter should 'think' to be in slow cpus...or not? So..is there a way to 'fix' the problem without entering setup?

Hi!

I'm Agathe, I'm French and wanted to play to "Winter Games" as i used to do during my childhood.

I've downloaded the game from abandonware.org but when i try to run it, i get this message :

--FATAL ERROR:#529
--note: These errors are often related to not enough free memory or to disk I/0 problems

I've tried to look at the DOSBOX's readme file, DOSBOX wiki and lots of forums but i couldn't find nothing !!

Does someone has the solution ??

Thanks for your help x

😊

Unfortunately that's one of the reasons why ABANDONWARE isn't supported here. Who knows if there are some files missing.

Also, necroposting isn't a good idea.
