Hi all,

I tried playing the 1985 PC version of Space Wars found here:

on DosBox, but the graphics are all over the place, everytime I play it. The pixels don't seem to be connecting, so it's like playing join the dots or something.

I have an AMD Sempron 2200+ 1.49GHz, 480 MB RAM.

I tried fiddling aorund with DosBox settings but, see, I'm incredibly stupid when it comes to these things. Help?

razblow, try the Wiki link in my signature. Once there, search for "front-end". That should help you with the fiddling.

Hi guys,

Sorry MiniMax, but I believe razblow is right in that Dosbox incorrectly displays the game, no matter what setting. I believe it has to do with the 2-colour cga mode that the game uses (wasn't that "SCREEN 2" in gwbasic?). It isn't implemented yet (in dosbox 0.63) but there seems to be a patch available here http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func … 551&atid=467234

that patch wasn't entirely correct.

i commited another one which seems to work better.

this was the old one for reference.

So if you had any game that looked like this....

I tested it with:
romance of the middle kingdom 1 (startup question)
Life and Death (title screen)
Spacewar.
