Hi guys. I'm trying to get sound in fire and forget 2 working, but it just uses the pc speaker instead. I know you can get adlib or soundblaster sound in fire and forget, because under vdm-sound, if you run it, you'll get adlib sound. What settings in dosbox should I change? has anyone managed to get sound working properly?

Hi there,

Sorry, can't help you, but I can confirm the problem: I am seeing the same thing, both in 0.63 and CVS...

Ronald

I just had a thought, perhaps it has something to do with the adlib emulation?
I was doing some searching on google for something else and came across a .conf file with the [adlib] section in it, but in the .conf file that is built into the current version of dosbox, the [adlib] section seems to have been omitted. Is this a mistake?

it's merged into the soundblaster section.

have you tried lowering the cycles before running the game?

I have just tested the game. It works with adlib.
you have to lower dosbox's cycles to about 2000 and also set
type=sb1
or
type=sb2
or
oplmode=opl2
in dosbox.conf

Damn, you're right robertmo, I've never seen an adlib/sb game that needed anything less than 3000 cycles to detect the soundcard properly. Great job!
