Any advice for getting the game to run smoothly under DosBox. I have ran the sound setup program but it still skips terribly. The cdrom is ok. no scratches. Ive never played this ganme before just ordered it off of Ebay a few weeks ago.

Clarification: Runs terribly but runs under VDMSound horrible sound skipping. Cant get it to run at all under DosBox.

my advice would be to tell what you did and how you did it and what system you have. which sound options you selected.

as it's a cdrom game did you mount the cdrom using the correct flags ?
type intro cdrom for all supported flags. most games use audiotracks if they are a cdrom version

What version of DOSBox are you using? Note that 0.63 is the latest official version, but that there are also CVS builds containing many fixes and features that have been added since then (see the development forum for more info)

No stability guarantees (though it is usually good). Use the newest one.

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread but some problems still remain using DOSBox 0.72 (You must skip intro). I think the culprit is the sound card selection interface (which sucks). This game doesn't use audio tracks. At last, I have been able to make it playable using DOSBox. I need to use the CD inserted in the drive, but I haven't tried imgmount. I am using version 1.3 for game.

It also works using VDMSound.

This is not descent 2, it's an AD&D RPG using the same engine.

Well, I have to report that using imgmount works well too.
