I need help getting music to work in Descent. Sound works fine. I've tried setting it to SB16 and Gravis Ultrasound, neither work.

Works ok for me. Maybe try General Midi in the Descent setup?
Btw, if you're using Windows, Linux, or Mac OS X, and you have a copy of Descent 2, you could try the modern port at http://www.descent2.de/d2x.html

eeeek. Yes, general MIDI works, but I don't want to have to settle for it. Sounds fake.
