Hi!
I'm playing WCIII with the latest dosbox-version. It runs very well. Performance, sound and gameplay are perfect with 'cycles=20000' (for P4, 2,8 GhZ, 256DDR Graphiccard)

I had no problem before. But now i'm in the last mission "fight against Kilrathi on Earth" with Victory, Sheffield, Coventry and Maniac.
In the middle of the mission the game cancel into dosbox with the following error message:
http://www.directupload.net/show/d/574/bnO6pm5W.jpg

Could anybody help me? I'm unfortunately helpless.

Info: I play with a mounted cd-rom path from HD which means that a have copied all WC-CDs to my hd. There is 100% no readerror on all four CDs. I also tried to play the last mission directly from CD4. I got the same err message.

😒

the error looks like an out of memory error.

did you try loadfix before starting the game ?

WOW!
Thank you for your prompt reply. I'm surprised! 😀

I thought the same. It looks like mem err although I play with 63MB memory.

I didn't use "loadfix". What do you mean? (Example?)

@mirekluza
Thanks. I took a look into readme regarding 'loadfix'. I understand and will try it this evening. I let you know whether it works.

@wd
Core setting = normal (tried all other options -> unsuccessfully!)
less than 63mb -> tried with 32 -> same error!

Sorry! I am in a hurry and had no time found yet to test your suggestions.
I will do that on weekend.

Nice time, Eric!

Hi!
Yesterday I've tried everything.
loadfix wc3.exe
loadfix -32 wc3.exe
loadfix -64 wc3.exe
with: memory: 16mb, core: normal, additional with sound off

Nothing helps! Same error message! (see first posting) 😠

I don't know really why this happens because the CD has definitely no read error.

Has anybody a last idea?

@J.B.
Are you playing with an original cd or copy?

I'm using the original German CD's. I've definately seen that error message before but if I recall correctly I got that before I even got into the game. I think the "fix" was simply to wait for a newer version of DOSBox. So maybe you should try some other builds.

Go to http://www.si-gamer.net/gulikoza/ for gulikoza's build, also check out the older versions on that page if it still doesn't work.

And FWIW here's the full conf file I used:

Hi J.B.,

I've tried everything at weekend. Unsuccessfully! 😠

I used gulikoza's build and Dosbox v.0.62.

Same error message!

Additionally I tried your dosbox.conf without success.

I also play the german version. Can you probably upload CD4_ger so that I can try it with your version? I have no ideas anymore.

🙁 🙁

Trading game CDs for whatever reason is NOT tolerated here
by any means. Any further attempt in this direction and this
thread will be closed.

Now back to the topic: did you configure the sound correctly? Tried
with sound disabled? Tried with correctly mounted CDs, ie. volume
lable set?

Yes, post the savegame plus an exact discription of how to cause the crash. Then I can see if my version really reacts different. If it does then it shouldn't be too difficult to "fix" the problem.

Hi J.B.,

sorry for late answer. I was on a heay-going business trip in Brussels (Belgian) and arrived Saturday at home.

Find my savegames in the attachment.

00000027.wsg is the concerning file (00000026.wsg for testing). Yesterday I played this file with the Original CD4 of WC3_germanVers which I meanwhile bought at ebay. It crashes, too.

Discription what I do until the error occurs:
1. I start with "wc3 -mitchell" (so you will be faster at point of err)
2. I load 00000027.wsg
3. I start the mission
4. Autopilot to fly out of Victory
5. After that NO use of autopilot. I fly manually with afterburner (TAB, take 5 minutes in real time) to the jumppoint with Maniac as wing. If you take autopilot, the mission will be a neverending story against Kilrathiships (Bug?). !?!?
6. I fight with Maniac and the two other ships against Kilrathi. To be faster, I kill my focused ships with STRG+W. After 10 to 15 ships the error ['malloc()...'] occurs. (see link in my first posting).
Info: Realtime until error: max 8-10 minutes.

I'm really interested what's going on with this savefile.

Slight problem at the moment. I have upgraded my whole system (Opteron 144, YAY) and can't connect my gameport joystick at the moment due to the new mainboard not having a gameport socket. But I'll check the sav as soon as I fix this problem.

OK! Thanks a lot!

Good luck with your problem. I'm sure you'll fix it anyway.
