For some reason, every sound setup I try for system shock gives me really choppy sound. The sound flickers on and off at a rate of about 3 times per second.

Try balancing out the Frame Skipping and CPU Cycles until the sound stops skipping.
On my P4 2.8ghz, I have cycles at 22500 and Frames at 5 with absolutely no sound skipping
Hope, didn't work. I don't think this is one of those tweaking issues. My sound is seriously fcked in some way.
That's Nope*, not Hope. And there should be a way to edit posts 😒
I have the same problem. I'm able to run the game at 34000 cycles and get smooth fps....but the sound skips like mad.
EDIT - Well running at 25000 w/ Frameskip 3 seems to help a little.

There is. The third button in the row of four located in the right part at the beginning of the post you want to edit.

One question though - hows the framerate of the actual game? If you can't get that working then audio isn't really the issue. 😊
System shock is very massive. If sound skips, you have too much cycles. If it isn't smooth when your sound is solid, then your box is too slow. Check the guides forum for performance tweaking tips.

framerate is flawless
