I was playing Blood (1998 3D game based on enhanced Duke3D engine) multi player via dos box's IPX emulation/tunneling with another friend across the internet. Blood ran super fast/smooth on my P4 3.0GHz PC. The ping was very low and there was no noticeable network lag.

Then I played C&C DOS (1995 game) via DOS Box again with another friend across the internet. Normally C&C DOS single player on dos box is fast/smooth. However the network game was so so slow. Both me & my friend have the same spec. PC.

Can dos box development team analyze why C&C DOS networking is so so slow?

CDROM music? Hmm, single player uses CDROM music by default, but when playing multiplayer, C&C doesn't play any music by default.

You mean there's a way for DOSBox to turn off CDROM music? Or turn off music in-game? Because the music is already off by default in multiplayer game. And we need the CDROM to play C&C.

I'll try RA once I found my CDs again.....

afaik, the first C&C had a real crappy network code (lags, timeouts and disconnects was a standard for that title). so it could also be a problem with the game itself.
