Trying to get Darklands (v.483.07) to run on my Win XP machine with DosBox 0.63. Get to the screen to "play game" and I get an error reading "Printing null. Align printer and press OK". My printer is connected by USB not the LPT port which I think is the issue. What should I do to resolve the printer problem?

I have heard all the horror stories of sound problems and pray to the VOGONS gods that this is the only snag I come across.

By the way. I've tried using the VDMSound (v2.0.4) and get the "the system file is not suitable for running in MS-Dos..." error

Is DOSBox 0.71 not working for some reason?

As for the "system file is not suitable" error, it is easily fixed.

I think we should add a notice to the DosBox Game Compat list on the website in Big Red Flashing Letters to use the LATEST VERSION OF DOSBOX.

You'd think it would be obvious but obviously not.

Hmm. It could be an internal release so far. Just a few adjustments over 0.71 🤣

Hmm. How did you configure sound? I think I have it configured for Roland MT32 and it sounded right.

After getting the game to load I reconfig'd my sound settings to "Sound Blaster (orig.) and got that to work. Also I used Dosbox to run the game, not VDMSound. Thanks so much everyone for your help.
