😵 Descent 1 crashes when I start it with DOS Box .72, It says "Error: Not enough string in text file - expecting 514, found 0" What can I do?
I have an IBM T41 with Centrino 1.6, 512 RAM and 100 Gb HD.

That is the same error it shows running under Windows Xp and in DOS Box .72

Please Help Me, I have the Shareware version of Descent 1

Also, not to discourage you, but a Centrino 1.6Ghz may get pushed to the limit by Dosbox so if Descent works, it may be a bit slow.

The sharware Version of Descent 1 is known to have bugs.

The registered+updated Version works like a charm, even in SVGA (started with descentr -640x480 cmdline).
