Hi!
I'm running Discworld (the CD Version with German subtitles) on dosbox 0.72.

System is Win XP SP 2, with 1G RAM and 2800+ AMD Athlon processor.

The Problem is the soundquality, there are a lot of small lags and interrupts, so you cannot understand some words

here are the files of interest:

thumb-12098.jpg

here are the config options:
thumb-12101.jpg
thumb-12099.jpg

There are quality problems with all Soundblaster variants.
Gravis Ultrasound do not work at all.
Only Roland ist running fine, but that is just the background music

here is the post CONFIG.bat statement:

and here is the post gamerun statement:

When you have an idea to solve this, or you run Discworld too, please let me know 😉

There are some buffers and such that you can change in your dosbox.conf. Maybe it will help?

Have you tried here, or maybe here?

There is an

2.6 Where can I get a patch/what does it fix?

There are no patches for the currently available version of Discworld 1, and a patch has not been released for the floppy disk version.

Ok?
Please don't state Google queries as answer here, this is disrespectful.

Also your Buffer statement is incomplete, there is no range.

Well I can set the Prebuffer to 1000 but it's quite sure, that isn't a logically clever decision.

Unfortunately, when it's about old games, Google isn't (always) that helpful...

However, there is one particular site that specializes in patches for (old) games:

http://www.patches-scrolls.de

May I ask that this link is added to the FAQ's or something (at least I don't remember reading about it here) as this site is THE place to find patches for old games. Even if they don't have it, the user can let them know and they try to find it!

Without further ado, here is the patch for Discworld.

It is equally disrespectful of you NOT telling me what you have done to find the patches! I am not your personal secretary, so I expect you to help me as much as you expect me to help you (perhaps even more, as you are the one that is asking for help here).

Right, because you should have done that before yourself.

Well I've prayed to Psygnosis to send me an support CD.

Maybe continue that way, and they'll send you something.

Closed.
