I am new to using DOSbox. I followed a tutorial on the Abandonia site and installed DOSBox and an old DOS game called FlashBack because that's what the tutorial suggested. When I tried to run the game I got a message "ERR 129 (L1452).

My system is fairly new (18 months old) and is an Athlon dual core with over 2 gigs of memory.

1) Does anyone know what is causing this error? Trying to continue got me to a movie (no sound) but no option to play the game. Not that I want to, just trying to get this working.

2) Can anyone suggest a freeware/abandonware DOS game that would be likely to run on my sys with a minimum of hassle just so I can see if this is going to work at all?

TIA

We can not suggest Abandonware games in here because we do not support Abandonware.

You can download plenty of shareware and freeware games from the 3DRealms site that run fine in DosBox.

You should install the latest version DBGL. It comes with 10 or so preconfigured games.

Thanks for the links!

I'm only interested in running some old DOS games that I already own, but I do need to d/l the files for those on floppy disks since my old floppies are no longer readable. So far I have Betrayal at Krondor and Master of Magic up and running under DosBox so I'm happy.
