Okay I've got no idea how fix this one. I've got the game installed properly, and I've got the drives mounted properly as well. However, when I try to run the game it says.

This batch file is used automatically by the Shadows of Darkness program. Please do not run it from the DOS command line.

This comment is from the CheckCD batch file used by the program. I figured that if I ran DOSBox without the the console it would work, but it didn't. My ideas are now little more than grasping at straws.

First check to see if you have any other .bat or .exe files in the game-directory.

If so try to run those in stead.

Turning off the DOSBox console has no influence on the execution/emulation of the game. The console is used soly for debugging purposes.

Did you install the game through DOSBox in stead of the Window's NTVDM (Windows "DOS")?

Erik.

Okay, I had the cycles set to 100. When I set thwe cycles to auto it started working. Does each cycle equal a 1 Hz or 1 MHz?

1 Cycle is related to the number of Hz emulated, but this differs on each system as each system can handle more or less dosbox cycles per second.

Also, keep in mind that cycles=auto equals to 3000 cycles for real mode games and is cycles=max for protected mode ones. Correct me if I am wrong.

You'll need at least 5000 cycles to run the majority of DOS games - for Quest of Glory 20000 cycles should be enough.

So is it a good idea to set the cycles to around 5000 and then experiment with different levels of cycles?
