Hi. Really enjoying Dosbox so far, but wondered if anyone had come across a similar error whilst playing BLOOD or any game for that matter with strange sound errors. Basically on top of the normal sound there's a weird distortion that affects all the sound fx, the midi seems unaffected. I've attached a sample below

Any help would be appreciated 😀

Urk! That sounds bad, bad, bad. And it does that for many games? Windows? Linux? Mac? Solaris? PSP?

And you are sure you are using DOSBox?

oh sorry!! Using Dosbox in Windows 😀
yep have the soundblaster and irq confirued correctly. Only 1 sound card on the list seems to work, and IRQ set to 7. Hmm think I have VDMsound installed somewhere, does Dosbox make use of that or use its own drivers?
Cheers

DOSBox has no drivers as such. It interprets what the game is asking for, and then ask the host OS (Windows) to do something similar.

probably not. Are you using a Creative sound card? Are you sire that there is no strange setting in the EAX panel that messes up sound?

Will have a look when I get home 😀 Haven't even got a proper sound card anymore tbh, just the on board sound on the motherboard, but to tell the truth on board sound has improved a hell of a lot over the last couple of years. Wil check motherboard but think it's the MSI K7N. Have the latest drivers installed

don't bother, I think only Creative gives out such nice software that warps the whole sound of the PC 😀 (I really did have once this problem and it took me a while to find out what exactly was causing it...)

That is weird! I'll try some other games tonight (yep i know, it is pretty daft not to have tried to see if it does it in other games under dosbox). will pay close attention to another game that uses the build engine

Ah! figured out the answer guys. Before trying dosbox i tried to run the game in windows xp with some fixes, one of which being an SBLive fix which does something to the ini or exe file, not sure. ANyway I put a fresh copy on my hard drive and it plays absolutely fine now. Sorry for wasting your time guys when this was evidentially my own fault initially
