I've been searching around all day on multiple forums for a solution to this sound problem, but I've found nothing. I'm running dosbox 0.72 on Windows Vista Ultimate. I'm trying to run the game Theme Hospital, the game runs perfectly but I have absolutely no sound. I've tried changing the sound to Creative Labs Soundblaster or 100% compatible,on both my regular sound as well as music. However, when i have them both set,I get the error Heap Allocation Failure. Although, when i run the game with no sound, but only music,it runs but with extremely choppy music. I'm not very savy with DOSbox so I have no idea why it'd be doing this. I'd like to know if anyone has any solutions on how to get both types of sound running on Theme Hospital as well as how to run sound without it being choppy. Thanks in advance to everyone who responds.

Read my 60 Seconds Guide to DOSBox (and don't just read it - follow it too).

If that doesn't help, come back with details on how you mounted your C and D drives, how you did the install, how you configured sound, music etc.

Downloaded Dosbox 0.72 which is on my desktop now. I downloaded Theme Hospital from Bestoldgames.net and that's in:
/users/username/desktop/retro/hospital.

To run the game I open Dosbox, key in:

mount c ~/desktop
c:\
cd retro
cd hospital
hosp.exe

To configure the sound i opened setsound.bat in the hospital folder through Dosbox and set both midi music and digital sound to Sound Blaster Pro or 100% compatible. After I do this I get as far as the first graphic with the 3 faces on it and it cuts out where I get the 'Heap allocation failure' message. It runs perfectly without any sound at all. I've tried a number of different variations but can't get it to run.

I don't have time and patience to debug a problem a most likely is caused by you using a defective and unlicensed copy of the game.
