hi everyone.

my mother wants to play Kings Quest 7 on her new laptop, which has an OEM version of Vista on it. I don't know much about Vista, since I'm sticking to XP for quite some time, so I don't know how to get that game running.
I installed the game and ran DOSBOX, but when I tried to execute the game, DOSBOX gave me the following error message:
"This file is a Windows NT window executable."
I'm slightly confused, but due to the error message, I decided to change the compability option of the .exe to Windows NT. Won't run though, error message:
"Windows title not found".

I searched the web and found many instructions, but everything I tried, failed. The hints given are also mostly for XP. Another problem is, that I don't know, which version of the game is on that CD, because it's from a game compilation and has no version info on it.

Who can help me?

Thanks in advance,
loclocloc

In english, this means, the game missed its CD.

Look to see if there is a DOS version on the disc. If there is, play it in DOSBox. There is a very nasty speed bug that you will not be able to get past without DOSBox. If there is not, you can get the new collection that includes most of the KQ games that you can probably find for $15. Just be sure to go to the Sierra forums to get my patch for the collection.

Looks like my CD has only got the windows version on it. So there's no chance of running it via DOSBOX and due to the bugs occuring without using DOSBOX, the game will remain unplayable on several spots and the CD therefore useless.
Am I right about this conclusion?
Thanks for your help so far, I guess I'll just have to look for some other CD on ebay.

Read all of my earlier post:

It is currently on sale new. No need to mess around with eBay. You can also buy it directly from Sierra as a download.

The version of KQ7 in that collection is the Windows version only.
But there is a patch available that will make that Windows version into a dos version. Which I seem to remember as made by collector, and is likely what he is referring to.
(By the way, my heartfelt thanks.)
