Hi all,
I have a problem with this game. I have installed and patched Fallout and installed DOSBox 0.72.
I start DOSBox with this commands:

1- mount c "c:\Program Files\Interplay\Fallout"
2- c:
3- falloutw.exe

The game dont start, but I receive this message in DOSBox:
this is a Windows NT windowed executable

Any idea? Thanks... 🙁

try fallout.exe (dos) instead of falloutw.exe (windows) keeping in mind you
are using a DOSemulator (DOSbox)

Ops... I dont have this file in my directory (fallout.exe): only falloutw.exe. Why? Can I try other solution?

Thanks in advance.

Install the DOS version and not the Windows version.

Have you tried running it directly from Windows?
Windows version of Fallout is pretty stable on Windows XP as I've played it through and didn't experience any problems with it.

Ok... I have uninstalled and reinstalled Fallout (version for DOS this time). In DOSBox (after mount the unit) I have an error when I start the game with command "fallout.exe" 🙁

Could not find the master datafile. Please make sure the FOLLOUT CD is in the drive and that you are running Fallout from directory you installed it to.

EDT: I have tried this command (g:\ is a virtual dvdrom with image of Fallout.iso mounted) but dont work: 🙁

mount d g:\ -t cdrom

DIR command with g work!!!

Try fall.bat

Did you install fallout WITHIN dosbox? It is crucial to do so very often.

Great program DOSBox... Last problem (I hope). The game is slow (e.g. loading). DOSbox conf:

memsize=64

cycle=auto (but it work at max)

gus=false (to force sound blaster)

The sound is ok, but the game is slow during loading 😢

Thanks!

How busy is the CPU when you play? What do the performance graphs in Task Manager show?
