I am having trouble running California games . Says I need 201K more memory. I am an old dos warrior from way back and know how to do Himem , doshigh etc in dos but this configuration file (dosbox.cfg) has me a little confused. I am running 4gigs of mem so that should not be a problem if I can access it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

run loadfix.
the problem isn't the fact that there is too little, but there is actually too much 😀

DOSBox doesn't use memory handlers such as HIMEM.SYS or EMM386, just the options XMS, EMS and UMB from the [dos] section of DOSBOX.CONF.

Most games work fine with all these options set to "true", I can't think of any game that demanded more base memory than DOSBox could supply.

My guess is that it's something else that is causing the error. DOSBox supports the DOS command "MEM", use it before running the game. Here it reports 634 kb of free base memory. I refuse to believe any DOS game requires more than that.
