If you can't select a c drive, you probably didn't mount it correctly. What are your mounting commands?

I'm using my D drive:

MOUNT D D:\UW1 AND MOUNT F F:\ -T cdrom

Rhetorical question: have you ever seen a PC system running a MS OS (especially DOS) without a C:\ drive?

My C drive is the system drive. The only thing on there is the system and specific programs critical to my line of work. This particular computer was built for video, VR and 3d rendering. All other programs, like games and ones such as Dosbox get relegated to D Drive. I have a C (system), D (non work programs), E (data), F (dvd) G (dvd) H (backup) I (media) and J (client data) drives, sometimes even more at any given time.

I build my computers so HD's can be easily yanked and put into another computer, (gotta love these gaming cases with removable mb trays and easy in/out slots for drives) including the system drive.

After much hair pulling I finally got UW to work .. what I ended up doing was just copied the UW file on the cd to the hd. Discovered Sound Blaster Pro worked with the audio. Regular Sound Blaster didn’t. Got old saves and everything up and running .. now I’m trying to remember if the video resolution was always this bad or if there is some way I can tweak it to make it clearer.

Forgot to add .. C as a system drive is not an unbreakable rule. Dosbox mounts with no problems what so ever on D. On dual boots sometimes E is a system drive.

DosBox doesn't care about your host drives for it's internal drives. It only cares about your host drives when you point to them.

Your command above:

"MOUNT D D:\UW1 AND MOUNT F F:\ -T cdrom "

should be

"Mount c D:\UW1"
"mount d f:\ -t cdrom"

Inside DOSBox, drive letters don't need to match REAL drive letters. You can assign a folder on drive H:\ as C:\ drive.
