Hi,

I am trying to play the game "Das Amt" under DosBOX 0.73.
i am able to mount the cd as a cdrom. it also tells me that "mscdex is loaded" .i can also install the game from that mounted cd. when i try to start it, the game tells me that mscdex is not loaded and it can not find the cd because of that. but the mount command stated that it has been loaded.is there anything i can do?

interesting. Did you try the lowel level mount options as well ?
type intro cdrom to see them

ok,

i tried them all but every mount option but "mount d i:\ -t cdrom -usecd 0" leads to "MSCDEX failure: Path not valid". if there is another parameter given after the zero, it tells me the error. although i checked the mount -cd list before. anyway, "mount d i:\ -t cdrom -usecd 0" did not solve the problem...

Defend or D-fend Reloaded? The original D-fend does not support the current DOSBox.

dfend reloaded.

but i dont like frontends 😀

i tried something else.
i used vmware and installed msdos 6.22. i configured this virtual machine with mscdex and all that stuff. i got runtime 200'-errors but that was quickly fixed by tppatch to eliminate the division by zero. and there it worked. no mscdex problems.but it is not playable because the mouse is not working properly. it jumps from side to side on the screen.

so i am still looking for any advice according DOSBox to get "Das Amt" running 😀

Post the exact mountings when you installed the game (including a screenshot
that shows the output of a plain MOUNT command right before starting the
installation) and when you run the game, same screenshot, right before
starting the game.

ok, so here is everything i did:

i created a folder on my (physical) drive h: (h:\amt).
i mounted this folder with "mount c h:\amt".

i used daemon tools to mount the cd of the game "das amt" as drive i:
then i mounted this cd by using "mount d i:\ -t cdrom".
as i said before, i also tried -ioctl and all other parameters but the error remained.

check the screenshot #1 in the attachment for the outpput of the plain mount command! (filename: plainmountbefinst.JPG)

after installing, the mountings are just the same. it means i did not change anything.but i attached a screenshot anyway (screenshot #2 filename: plainmountafterinst.JPG) this is the moment right before i would start the game.

i also attached a screenie from the error message i receive when i start the game. (error.jpg)

it says that the program needs NWCDEX or MSCDEX in order to read from the disk.

i hope this helps...

because the cd that contains the game "das amt" was on a game's magazine cd from 1996. i made an image of that cd but never tried using the original cd actually.but i dont think this is relevant for my problem...
