What are the best graphics options to use for a game like magic carpet which is more cpu intensive? I can get it running fairly smoothly by increasing the cpu cycles, but just wondered which graphics card option in the dosbox menu is best to use? Currently using the svga_s3 (VESA 2.0 compatible S3 Super). thx

It's already set to the best (svga_s3). Cycles max and dynamic core helps too, and if you used the latest DOSBox or at least a recent version later than 2005 you'd have cycles auto which would raise the cycles to the max when protected mode games like Magic Carpet kick it in.
By the way Bullfrog games do not throttle, so if it's running beyond 20fps... it's running too fast.
I see, thx. I just changed cpu type to pentium_slow and it seems to run a bit faster too as cpu auto wasn't fast enough. I think some games were optimised for the pentium. Just curious aswell, which renderer is meant to be used, I am using ddraw as the others seem to cause problems. Is that the best, thx.
