I have the 1997 version of the boxset (the one that has 1- the talkie version of 6) and only the AGI version of 1 seems to work. The other games give me a "couldn't install video driver" message.

When I try to install it from the CD, it doesn't indicate a hard drive (C) despite it being mounted properly with mscdex in my CD mount. I'm running this on Dosbox. The Police Quest set from the same time period works just fine, so I don't see what I'm doing wrong.

For all Sierra games (Space Quest, Police Quest, King's Quest, Larry, etc.) I simply copied the game files over onto my HDD and fiddled with the SIERRA and SCIDHUV files. Sometimes I had to then run the install file to set up the sound settings, but not always.

For example here is how Larry 5 works:

mount c c:\games\dos
c:
cd sierra\LSL5
scidhuv

And Larry 2:

mount c c:\games\dos
c:
cd sierra\LSL2
sierra
