Hello,
The two dos games I am having trouble with are Tie Fighter and X-wing (the star wars games). I have the x-wing and tie fighter 95 cds, but I want to play them on dosbox because I have a Mac and no joystick (I hear the dos versions don't need joysticks... at least for tie fighter)

I have the dos versions in folders on my hard drive. In DosBox (as well as an application called Boxer, which is DosBox with a pretty GUI to my understanding) Tie Fighter goes to the install screen (gray background) but just hangs there and I am unsure why. X-wing gives me an error... "On script line 108 we had a problem: no library for queued files.: D:\*.PVL". If i install it from the X-wing cd in dosBox it seems to run it ok... but I was wondering if there was a way to get rid of the no-cd it then asks for?

Am I doing something wrong to get these two games to work? Specifically Tie Fighter hanging on installation.

If you ask in the DOSBox forum, you'll get a faster response. Perhaps a mod will move it for you.

You need to keep the mountings for the xwing cd (or you make a bin/cue image of the cd and imgmount that).
Tiefighter, did you install it? Did you keep the same mountings?
Maybe try without boxer first, it's a nice frontend but may obscure some stuff. Alternatively ask the boxer dev for help.

Hello,
Thank you I thought I was in the right forum. Obviously not.

Good idea ont he xwing idea. I will try that soon!

For tie fighter... it does not install it just seems to be loading the installation (I see no prompts or anything, just a gray background)... in DOSBOX and BOXER. That is why I am confused. Maybe the new versions can't handle tie fighter?

Both X Wing and TIE fighter have been updated for modern systems, XP, and run great with all the original sound files and TIE Fighter has also converted to use XWA engine so you can use the much improved ship models that have been developed: info on both of these on these sites:

QuaSar mentions the X-Wing and Tie Fighter 95 CDs, which are Windows 9x remakes of the old (dos versions) of X-Wing and Tie Fighter collector CDs based on the X-Wing vs Tie Fighter engine.

QuaSar, you can't run those versions on Dosbox and on a Mac I think you need some kind of Windows emulation, but I'm not familiar with Mac's.
