hi DOS-BOX community!!

Lately I found the great opportunity to play my lovely old dos games on my Mac! Games like Keen or SkyRoads are working fine, but there's a strategy game called Clash (by Longsoft / Software 2000) which I can't play or start at all. 😖

It says "could not load config data" and that's it.
(I added a screenshot of it.)

I have really no idea what kind of data that is... I'm really new to this DOS emulating system.

Can anyone help me out? I don't know what to do. 😒

Thanks in advance!! 😀
(and sorry for my weird English... I'm not native.)

Looks like the mounting may be wrong if so the game would be looking in the wrong place for the config.

Are you sure the game goes in C:\Crash\Crash if it is installed from the original disks?

I really appreciate your support DosFreak!!

Well, I have the data on my harddisk instead of a CD.
May it solve the problem, if I burn the data (which is normally on a CD) onto a CD?

The game is installed in the folder "C.harddisk". The CD (which isn't actually a CD, just another folder on my hd) is in the folder "D Clash Folder.cdrom". So how can I tell the program to use the .cdrom-folder? Is there any command to type in?

Or... how can I check which folder or files the program uses to start up? Or maybe any other commands I could try?

Thanks! 😀

I just added another screenshot. I think the mounting is okay. Maybe, the program can't find a config data within the .cdrom-folder? But where to get a config data out of nowhere!? 😒

(I could be completely wrong. I don't know. )

You're really gonna have to give us more information on what's going wrong.
A mounted CD drive is different from a mounted HD drive.

Try the following mount commands:

mount c "C.harddisk"
mount d -t cdrom "D Clash Folder.cdrom"

Maybe you need to run setup/setsound or something like that before you can run the game itself.

There should be a file "CLASH.CFG" in the "longsoft\clash" folder (or "clash/clash" I guess in your install). It's created by the "setup.exe" installer on the CD during it's last step when a sound card is selected. Both the game, and post install setup will fail as described with that file missing.
