OK well i started foolin around with dosbox and discworld 1 and kyrandia 3 (original cds ofcourse) usin the ol' mount -cdrom yadayada. It worked fine! But the sound was stuttering quite a bit. Then I tried to make an image out of it, mountin it on a virtual drive (using alcohol, but u could use daemontools or whatever.) (since this works wonders with playstation 1 games also) And voila: Completely fluent graphics, sound etc. 😎
Just thought i'd share since some people have sound issues, might help 😊
(and ofcourse if it's still slow after that there's the whole f12 and/or frameskip thingiez...)
