I'm having issues to run SW shareware. Upon start it gives the fallowing errors. (see attachment).
I've found similar errors in this thread:
Flying Tigers v2.10 locks up in DOSBox

I've tried mounting the game directory as the root directory but with no luck. Any ideas how to get the game running?

If you're not opposed to using Windows, then according to it's website (http://www.jonof.id.au/jfsw), you can use the Windows port of Shadow Warrior 3D's engine with the shareware version of the game. But it is well worth buying the full game, it's really good (my third favourite Build engine game after Duke Nukem 3D, and Blood - any first person shooter fan should play those too). Plus then you can play the various fan-made mods and levels too.

There's an updated version of the port at:

http://www.proasm.com/sw/swp.html

but I've not tried that one, just the one in the first link (http://www.jonof.id.au/jfsw).

Thanks guys for the hints. I've downloaded the lag of the plain SVN build and the game works like a charm now.
I just found an old compilation CD with shareware shooters and wanted to give some of those games a try. Never played SW before. Really cool game. Next in line - Blood.

If you want to get the full version of any of the games, you can get many of the best old first person shooters from the brilliant gog.com (all of their games are free from DRM). There is a modern reboot of SW, released in 2013, but it's a pretty different game, so be aware of that if you want the original game. They also sell BLOOD: ONE UNIT WHOLE BLOOD, which is Blood and all of the official addons. There's also a Blood 2, but I didn't like it at all, it's nothing like Blood 1.

I recall hearing about the difficulties with getting at least one older shareware version of SW (1997) to run; Good to see this is resolved.

As for obtaining the full version, it has been available from Devolver Digital on Steam as a "Free to Play" title: http://store.steampowered.com/app/238070/
Once downloaded, you basically get the game with OGG files for the music and a DOSBox setup.

While it lacks the two add-ons of "Wanton Destruction" and "Twin Dragon", these were originally (and still are) available for no cost from various sources, although you may have to mess with a DOS installer and the like in order to get any of these to work.
