disregard that comment of mine.

if you specify a label => this label will be kept at all times. even if you change disks.

I still haven't been able to get Millenia to properly detect the CD-ROM. I feel like I've tried every possible permutation of MOUNT settings. The label is correct, the drive letter is the same that the game was installed from... I give up.

see thats EXACTLY my problem 🙁 and its seems like thre is no solution, and i already thought my thread vanised 🤣
hm no not funny i hope someone will find a solution for this problem , especially interesting concerning this problem is that, is said that it should work?!:
Game details
Millenia: Altered Destinies - Take 2 Interactive (1995)
Tested By: rockfly

runable - playable - supported
100% (supported)
DOSBox version: 0.61 (supported)
should we contact this guy?
How he did get this working?
i´m looking forward to find a solution fot this problem.
2 More Things to add:
first: if the the CD rom label is necessary IMO it should be more pointed out in the WIKI DosBox FAQ
second: i tried to install the game on/with Win98 and got kinda the same error,
install worked!
when try to start the game PC hangs up 🙁 same like dosBox.... ?!

Hmm, good to know.

How many different versions of the game are floating around out there? The version I'm using is an ISO ripped from the original game CD, which has long since gone on to Physical Media Heaven. The volume label I'm using in DOSBox is MILLENIA101, the same label the CD had.

I'm guessing Millenia uses some sort of funky way to detect the CD-ROM, and DOSBox might not know how to handle it properly.

I have no idea if this will help... but can you find that label (MELLENIA101) somewhere in the binaries (.EXE/.COM)?

I had a problem with Battle Isle II, where the game appearently(?) had the label in MixedCase in the binary, and the label returned by DOSBox was all uppercase = no match, no play.

I had to "repair" the EXE with a byte-editor, replacing the label-string with the UPPERCASE-only version in order to get Battle Isle II to play.

Maybe??

Here is discussion about editing the label:

Battle Isle2

Check out this litte label-checker program (runs inside DOSbox):

download.php?id=1116

Okay, this was clearly an issue with DOSBOX. I got Millenia from eBay, and by chance the very last CVC will let it detect the CD! No other DOSBOX version with the same config will do so.

using the newest CVS it should be possible, unlucky me i need to find again my CD but then im sure to check this out, i hope it works 😀

I tested Millen(n)ia with DosBOX 0.65, but I too get the error 'Unable to locate CD-ROM...' (the CD-ROM is mounted correctly). Is there a solution?

I tried this solution: Millennia but then NTVDM-CPU crashes. Help! 🙁
