The stereo sound is reversed in the game Terminal Velocity. There's no option to reverse it, either in-game or in the setup program. Selecting "Surround" does not help. Configuring it as Soundblaster Pro does not help.

Stereo sound is otherwise correct for me. I've not noticed this in any other game.

I've seen this option for dosbox.conf in a few places, but it doesn't seem to have an effect, so I'm not sure it's actually available.

[mixer]
swapstereo=true

I've tried the above in:

  • DOSBox 0.74-3
  • DOSBox ECE r4482
  • DOSBox Pure 0.9.7 (for RetroArch)

Is ther a way to reverse the stereo sound in this particular title?

This is a known and acknowledged bug in Terminal Velocity (check TVHELP). Apparently that "future version" where they thought they would fix it never came. 😜

Apparently only some specific DOSBox builds have the swapstereo command.

Ah, thanks for highlighting that! Yeah, here's hoping for a new version of the game, hehe. Any day now... 🤞

So, then my options are to use that build, or to play in mono (but then the music is also in mono). Since I want to have it set up in RetroArch though, I guess it's going to have to be mono.

I could also submit a feature request to introduce this option in the main line build. What even is this "MSS" build? Not finding the source code for it. Is it to emulate this sound card? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Sound_System
